How it works

Why TransChat asks to connect your Google account

Translations are produced by the Gemini API running in a Google Cloud project that belongs to you, so your messages are never sent to a server operated by UsefulFactory. When you connect your Google account and agree on Google's permission screen, TransChat uses the Google Cloud permission (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/cloud-platform) only to:

  1. find the TransChat project it created in your account earlier, or create one named "Voice Translate Personal" if none exists;
  2. enable the Generative Language, Cloud Billing and API Keys APIs in that project only;
  3. create one API key restricted to this Android app and to translation requests, and read that key so the app can use it;
  4. check that billing is not linked to that project, so you are not charged.

TransChat does not read, change or delete any other project or resource in your account. The access token and API key stay in the app's memory and are not sent to UsefulFactory. Disconnect in the app's settings revokes this access; you can also revoke it in your Google Account and delete the project in the Google Cloud Console.

TransChat's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Details are in the TransChat Privacy Policy.

Ads and subscription

The free edition shows AdMob ads. A monthly Google Play subscription removes ads. Chat text and speech transcripts are never given to the advertising SDK.

TransChat

TransChat은 채팅 앱 입력창에 쓰고 있는 문장을 원하는 언어로 번역해 같은 입력창에 다시 넣어 주는 Android 앱입니다. 전송은 사용자가 확인한 뒤 직접 합니다. 직접 입력한 문장과 음성 모두 번역할 수 있습니다.

사용 방법

Google 계정 연결이 필요한 이유

번역은 사용자 본인 소유의 Google Cloud 프로젝트에서 Gemini API로 처리되므로, 메시지가 UsefulFactory 서버를 거치지 않습니다. Google 권한 화면에서 동의하면 TransChat은 Google Cloud 권한(cloud-platform)을 다음 작업에만 사용합니다.

  1. 이전에 만든 TransChat 프로젝트를 찾고, 없으면 "Voice Translate Personal" 프로젝트를 만듭니다.
  2. 그 프로젝트에서만 Generative Language, Cloud Billing, API Keys API를 사용 설정합니다.
  3. 이 Android 앱과 번역 요청으로 제한한 API 키 하나를 만들고 앱에서 사용합니다.
  4. 요금이 청구되지 않도록 그 프로젝트에 결제가 연결되지 않았는지 확인합니다.

다른 프로젝트나 리소스는 읽거나 바꾸거나 삭제하지 않습니다. 액세스 토큰과 API 키는 앱 메모리에만 있고 UsefulFactory로 전송되지 않습니다. 앱 설정의 연결 해제로 권한을 회수할 수 있고, Google 계정 설정과 Google Cloud 콘솔에서도 권한 회수와 프로젝트 삭제가 가능합니다. Google API에서 받은 정보는 제한적 사용(Limited Use) 요구사항을 포함한 Google API 서비스 사용자 데이터 정책을 준수해 사용합니다.

기타 권한과 광고

접근성 서비스는 선택한 입력창의 초안을 읽고 번역문을 넣는 데만, 마이크는 버튼을 길게 누르는 동안의 음성 입력에만 사용합니다. 무료 버전은 AdMob 광고를 표시하며 월 구독으로 광고를 제거할 수 있습니다. 채팅 문장과 음성 인식 문장은 광고 SDK에 전달하지 않습니다.
